#66 - SHTF Threat Level Raised

Because of the ongoing situation on the Big Island with the volcanic activity along with the seismic and geological activity we are increasing the SHTF Threat Level to "Extreme" as we prepare for a possible major event which is predicted to take place at any moment.

The "Hilina Slump" is an area of approximately 5,000 cubic miles on the south flank of the Kilauea volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii Every two years or so this section of the island moves farther to the South East toward the ocean, sometimes by a few inches, and on other occasions by as much as 11 feet. Over the past week this section moved a little over two feet during the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that we experienced.

As this part of the island moves, it risks falling off of the cliff that it is sitting on top of and into the ocean which could result in a possible mega-tsunami with waves that could be as high as 1,000 feet high.

There is also the prediction of steam induced explosive eruptions of Kilauea volcano which the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has predicted could happen at any time.

On top of all of this, we also have extremely high sulfur dioxide levels in the air because of the 17 fissures that have opened up in the Leilani Estates area of the Big Island.

The sulfur dioxide is mainly being blown out over the ocean to the South of Hawaii island, and we are keeping track of the wind direction as yesterday the sulfur dioxide and vog reached all the way to the island of Oahu.

Because of all of these situations occurring at once we have decided to raise the threat level temporarily as a precaution.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will post advisories as needed.

Until Next Time
